TRENDS OF THE PAST
LET'S RECAP OUR FAVORITE TRENDS OF THE PASSING YEAR
by Karina Kurani
2017 is coming to an end. So let's recap our favorite trends of the passing year. The inspiration of this article is the style of a beautful German singer of turkish origin - Bahar Kizil
There were a lot of unexpected fashion twists and turns this year. One of the biggest surprises this year was mix of hard textures and dark tones with classic blush chic peaces. This trend is totally gives that " punk glam" vibe and it's great for a casual outing as well as a night out on the town. Something you thought would not normally go together, surpringly makes a great outfit!
A true fashionista will make anything work! Spikes and lasses added that extra " umph " to our outfits this year. This looks goes perfectly with the slik long straight hair, which was the hairstyle trend of the year.
COLORS
The year started out calmly with blush pink tones and pastels. Pink was definatly one of the colors that was hot this year. From bubble gum to rose - we just could not get enough of it. Pink just screams " girly " so for all of girly girls out there probably loved this trend.
As we approached summer we saw a lot of bright colors, such as red and yellow.
Green was certainly the favorite for many. That is probably why miiltary prints were in too. Again, this color is not something you would normally wear on a daily bases, but when chosen an appropriate tone, it looks fabulous and unique.
PRINTS
Stripes everywhere! in all colors and sizes! All the clothing stores were swamped with striped items. Sweaters, blouses, pants, you name it. This fashion trend is a fun way to spice up your look.
Another print that made an inpact this year is the floral print. This trend works well with bright colors such as yellow and red. You definitely had to be bold and get out of your comfort zone with this one. Bright outfits with floral prints were this summer's trend.
FOOTWEAR
"Comfort comes first" - was the motto for footwear this year. This is why even the runway models ditched the high heels and wore sneakers and flats. It's no secret that sneakers are the footwear for the casual/sporty outfit
but sneakers can also work wonderfully with the right dresses and skirts! This is a trend our feet our probably thanking us for.
OTHER TRENDS
Denim has made a comeback in 2017. Who doesn't love denim? This is why it keeps coming back. Denim is the perfect trend of casual looks. It looks equally stunning in both light and dark colors.
Ruffles and oversized sleeves occured often on the pages of vogue and the runway. Both of those details give the peace something extra without being overbearing.
This year's fashion was definatly brave and bold. We can't wait to see what 2018 has in store for us. All of the trends have pushed us to explore and try something new. It will be interesting to see which trends stay and which ones will change. We'll be sure to keep you updated.
NAIL POSITIVITY
This Nail Polish Has the Royal Stamp of Approval
We are going to talk about classic rule of etiquette of Queen Elizabeth. The rule states that colored manicure or fake nails are not allowed on anyone residing at the Windsor Castle. It is considered vulgar according to British OK. Whenever Kate Middleton prepares for major event such as her sister's Pippa's wedding, she uses the only allowed trick and that is a very see through nail polish Ballet Slippers by Essie.
Official Essie site features time scale with proud highlight: Queen Elizabeth's helpers buy Ballet Slippers for the last 28 years. For her own wedding to Prince William, Kate chose Ballet Slipper's neighboring color Allure and asked to add few drops of Rose Lounge from So Laque collection from French brand Bourjois.
Natural color became favorite of many actresses, singers, trendy fashion editors and models. Model Gigi Hadid doesn't use bright colors even for the dinner in honor of her favorite designer and mentor Karl Lagerfeld.
THE POWER IS FEMALE
IN A GREAT SUIT
Suit styles have done something of a 360 in recent years. First came the big shoulder pads and oversized trousers, then a more streamlined look was a must, and now we’re back to ultra-baggy pants with a high waisted cinch.
The way to make this look less '80s, more of-the-moment? Team them with a pair of white basketball sneakers. Ok, they’re not exactly modern, but the retro look is so imprinted in our 2016 sartorial zeitgeist that they instantly bring the wide leg, slouchy trouser up to date.
Stick to neutral shades, and layer on shirts, knits and coats, for an effortless, style-set worthy look.
Check Mate: It's Plaid for Fall 2017's Must-Have
The breakaway trend of the season: Plaid.
Joliegazette insiders delivering the latest from the runways and this is what we are picking up. Looks like Spring 2018 is all about plaid suits, coats, blazers, trousers and shoes. Here are some of the greatest items we gathered for you to consider. And when we say 'All about plaid" we don't mean head to toe plaid, mix and match, have fun and do it in style.
SAY BYE BYE TO SKINNY JEANS
Shopping for jeans just became easier.
Now it's time to break-up with your skin-pinching denim life partner and replace it with a baggier silhouette. Blame or not Vetements and Marques’ Almeida who introduced the comfortable fit. We're seeing it everywhere these days. Maybe it's because of the realization that they just don't fit everyone.
But there are always women and girls who will wear very tight jeans, and there have been for decades. It’s less a question of fashion than personal preference. Who knows, skinny jeans may well come back again, but for now it's a relaxed, voluminous silhouette. Breathe a little!

ATHLEISURE TREND
A trend in fashion in which clothing designed for workouts and other athletic activities is worn in other settings, such as during work, casual or social occasions. Find out how!
There are 3 substyles of the trend Athleisure. Sportive elements of clothing are seen in different fashion styles such as casual, business, evening dressing and etc. in all fashion brands. It has definitely been noticed that people are becoming more and more obsessed with sport and everything that somehow relates to it.
To be sporty means to be trendy. Sport is not something that concerns only to those who train professionally, but also to those who are educated and simply aware of what is going on in life and society. You do not have to go to gym, or jogging, or cycling to be related to that new lifestyle which is called ‘Athleisure’ (atheltic + leisure). It is obvious that athleisure has influenced fashion industry, which gives a great opportunity to look sportive and trendy despite you do not really do sport. So, nowadays, in my opinion, there are three directions in fashion clothing, which have appeared as a result of athleisure lifestyle: sport, sport-glam and sport-comfort.
SPORT
Sport is an obvious sporty style however you can not wear that clothes to the gym. The details of the Sport style are in quilted fabric, obvious sporty elements (such as patches, numbers, sporty lines, straps). The key look for that style is a jumpsuit with a front zip and straps (it is a prototype of a professional ski suit) in a combination with oversize knitted sweater. Such look can be finished with massive ski/snowboard sunglasses.
SPORT-GLAM
Sport glam is a combination of sporty lines (like Adidas) with a silk night dress. The main details of that style are focused on the femininity, which can be perfectly matched with the elements of Sport. The key details are sequins, lace, silk, fringe, velvet. Key looks: A-line quilted skirt and leggings with Adidas white lines; the second look is a night rail over the sportive t-shirt and trousers.
SPORT-CASUAL
Sport casual is a classic example of those people who do not really ever do sport, but want to be trendy. So they combine slightly similar to a sport style elements, silhouettes and fabrics with a calm comfort casual style. Sport-comfort is for the everyday life and is about going to Starbucks in pajamas. You slightly feel the smell of sport but it is not the obvious Adidas white lines. The key elements of that comfort style are knits, massive buttons(espevially from wood), fur and calm gentle caramel color palette. The key look is beige knitted culottes in a combination with oversize knitted sweater. In my opinion, the key and base item for the athleisure fashion assortment are Joggers. You can see them in all discussed styles and can be made from completely different fabrics (cotton, silk, velvet, quilted fabric and etc.). Nowadays, joggers can be worn not only with a sportive t-shirt, but also with a classic silk blouse or top. Such feminine look can be finished with elegant high-heels.

The Fall Lip
Best New Lipsticks for Fall
With every fashion season that arrives comes an array of beauty trends that will be plucked from the runway for mainstream consumption. While there will be common trends seen in a number of shows, some designers will decide to go in the opposite direction aesthetically. This makes for a multitude of looks. We will deconstruct the major trends for lips that you will want to take part in for Fall 2016.
The Gothic Vamp
How dark can you go? This seemed to be the question at several Fall ‘16 shows. Vampy hues ran the gamut from a rich burgundy to a fun purple to the deepest noir. Finishes ranged from glossy to matte.
The Softest Blush
Perhaps a response to the contouring and matte lip craze is to go in a completely different direction. Many runways featured a soft blushy-nude lip which read sweet, simple and pretty.
Classic Red
From a more subtle red lip to a full-on glittery display, classic red lips, which have never fully gone away, are highlighted more than ever this season.
A Bright Pop of Color
Along with fun color on eyelids, the neon hues extended to lips. Think bright pinks and oranges. Pow!

Keep it cool this Summer!
Temperatures might be rising, but your style doesn't need to drop.
As soon as the seasons change, the fear of what to wear and what not to are upon us.
Styling your clothing can be a little tricky, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. Just because you are planning your wardrobe for this season, does not mean you can’t work with your old ones in a fresh way. You just need to tweak them a little.
So taking inspiration from the designer runways we have curated some fashion tips for you that might inspire what you'll be wearing this Summer.
Dare to Bare:
This summer show off your gorgeous shoulders with printed off-shoulder dresses. No matter the occasion, if you are dressed in a printed off-shoulder, you are sure to standout from the crowd. Use last season’s scarf to cover up your neck if you want to add a twist to your look.
Let Loose:
Hit the sweet spot between lounge wear and street-style cool with smock-print loose-fitting pants this summer. Team it up with a cropped t-shirt if you are chilling by the beach. This look gets an instant upgrade when you pair it with your denim jacket and hipster sandals.
Little White Dress:
LBDs are so yesterday, go for little white dresses this Summer. Guaranteed to be one of the most sought-after piece of clothing in your closet, this LWD will always give you a classic look. Add a professional polish to this by coordinating it with a blazer and high heels.
Orange is the New Black:
You might have shied away from Orange in the past, but embrace the bold color this season. If its your shopping day, then pair a simple rusted-Orange tee with ankle length blue demin, and pump up the look with slip-on sneakers. You can also add some sophistication to your look by pulling on that white jacket from your Winter collection on top of your bright orange top, blue jeans and nude sandals.
Stripe Tease:
Some designs never go out of style and stripes are one of them. It doesn't matter how you wear it — horizontal, vertical or diagonal — you can make a statement as long as you have it from head to toe.
Keep it short:
Say hello sunshine in denim shorts! Your old denim and floral printed shorts are still in vogue. Pair it with semi-sheer crop tops or simple crispy white tops and flip flops.
So what are you waiting for? Go nail the perfect summer look now!

Graphic Umbrella
Stand out with bold umbrellas that are sure to make a statement that will brighten anyone’s rainy day.
Wellie Chelsea Boots
A completely water resistant finish combined with the sleek and timeless look of Chelsea boots? These booties may be wellies for grownups, but they’re puddle splashing approved.

Wedding Guest-Best Dressed
It’s wedding season! That means countless wedding invites and countless wedding dress codes. How will you look flawless at each vastly different occasion? Don’t worry. We’ve got style advise from A casual outdoor wedding to a white tie.
Outdoor:
A brightly colored flowing maxi dress is perfect attire for weddings outside! Opt for a dress with slits to make dancing a breeze.
Semi-formal:
A loose fitting cocktail dress is great for a semi-formal wedding. The statement necklace will add a special element, but the looseness keeps it classy and allows for plenty of cake!
Black Tie:
For a black tie wedding, I love classic silhouettes. No need to go out and buy a new outfit, this is a great time to break out your favorite LBD.
White Tie:
An embellished dress in a subtle color is the perfect way to dress up for a white tie event without outshining the bride.
Outdoor, Semi-Formal, Black Tie, White Tie: Don’t wear white.
