This Bromance Is The Talk of Cannes

Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio have had their arms wrapped around each other, and generally seem to be having the best time.

Quentin Tarantino returned with a bang with “Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood,” at Cannes festival. The movie's stars Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio have been making the rounds at the festival to promote Quentin Tarantino's ninth film. But through the press events, it's really Brad and Leo's bromance that has become the talk of Cannes.

This was a movie on infamous Manson family and the murder spree. Among the victims of this murder was at the time pregnant actress Sharon Tate who was married to Roman Polanski.

Pitt plays Cliff Booth, the stuntman to DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton, a TV star. Both struggle to come to terms with a changing Hollywood industry — at the height of Charles Manson’s killing spree.

Oh, and Brad Pitt said he wouldn't mind working with Leonardo DiCaprio again after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Neiman Marcus Buys A Stake In Online Secondhand Store Fashionpile

We’re at a tipping point in the resale ecosystem.

Neiman Marcus had bought a stake in online secondhand store Fashionphile earlier this week. It became one of the first major retailer to get into fashion’s fast-growing resale market. Some of the retailers like The RealReal, Vestiaire Collective, 1stDibs still hold their businesses, even though they are being targeted with legal actions by luxury brands like Chanel. The concern is that it will slow down branding of a luxury label.

And it sure will, as Millennials and Gen Z generations are driving the resale trend. Sustainability and clean fashion first. This new generation is all about saving the planet and what once was a grey market is now Hot.

Fashionphile purchases items from the seller. Select Neiman stores will have Fashionphile “salons,” where customers can go to sell their luxury handbags and jewelry and receive immediate payment. The decision for Neiman Marcus to invest in resale, according to Raemdonck, came out of a customer survey the retailer conducted last year, which found that half of its shoppers were shopping on resale sites.
The shop-in-shop Fashionphile salons will be rolled out to five to seven Neiman Marcus locations in the Fall.

Je t'aime Notre Dame

Hundreds of Parisians gathered together and sang as they watched the Notre Dame Cathedral being engulfed by flames on Monday in Paris.

Hundreds of Parisians gathered together and sang as they watched the Notre Dame Cathedral being engulfed by flames on Monday in Paris. Beloved cathedral known to many from Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel, “Notre-Dame de Paris,” published in English as “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Notre Dame Cathedral survived 1790’s French Revolution.

The cathedral name means Our Lady and is the seat of the archbishop of Paris. It was built on a small island called the Île de la Cité, in the middle of the Seine. Construction began in 1163, during the reign of King Louis VII, and was completed in 1345. It is considered a jewel of medieval Gothic architecture.

Here are the historical events that took place at the Cathedral

Henry VI of England was crowned king of France inside Notre-Dame in 1431.

Napoleon Bonaparte, was crowned emperor there in 1804.

In 1909, Joan of Arc, who had helped France battle the English and was burned at the stake centuries earlier, was beatified in the cathedral by Pope Pius X.

It’s hard to believe that today marks the day we lose the landmark admired by people from all over the world.

“Never say never,” Jolie told People about taking her longtime advocacy work to the next level.

She recently addressed the U.N. Peacekeeping Ministerial in New York for the first time, giving a speech about the importance of involving women in the peacekeeping process. “If we went by the principle that those affected by a problem should be in charge of determining the solution, then the majority of the world’s peace negotiators, foreign ministers, and diplomats would be women,” she said. “There can be no peace and stability in Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world that involves trading away the rights of women.”

For now Jolie’s next movie is the Maleficent sequel, which comes out in October—after that we will see who will rule the world, or United States for starts.

16-year old teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Greta Ernman Thunberg is a Swedish political activist seeking to stop global warming and climate change.
In August 2018, she became a prominent figure for starting the first school strike for climate, outside the Swedish parliament building.

The 16-year-old was nominated by three Norwegian MPs.

If she were to win, she would be the youngest recipient since Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai, who was 17 when she received the prize.

Ms Thunberg tweeted she was "honoured" to receive the nomination:

Greta has been missing lessons most Fridays to stage her regular protests.

She continued to gain international attention after speaking at the UN Climate Talks in Poland in December and at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January.

"On climate change, we have to acknowledge that we have failed," she told global economic leaders in Davos.

According to Nobel's will, the Peace Prize shall be awarded to the person who in the preceding year "shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses".

Iconic Chanel Fashion Designer, Karl Lagerfeld Dies

Who Will Take Over? Find out Here

The most prolific designer of the 20th and 21st centuries, Karl Lagerfeld, died on Tuesday in Paris. German designer  dominated high fashion for decades and reinvigorated French couture house Chanel. He was 85, though Karl long refused to confirm his age.

Fashion was a big part of Karl’s life but it wasn't everything for Lagerfeld. A passionate reader and book collector, he also took photographs, created advertising campaigns, made short movies for various fashion companies, designed hotels around the world, founded a publishing company and established his own art gallery.

His death leaves a void for two fashion monsters: Chanel, one of the luxury industry’s biggest brands, and Fendi, the Italian fashion house owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE where he had been a creative director since 1965.

“We have lost a creative genius who helped to make Paris the fashion capital of the world,” Bernard Arnault, the French billionaire who leads LVMH, said.

Later today the House of Chanel has announced that Virginie Viard will succeed the late Karl Lagerfeld as creative director of the iconic brand. Reps for Chanel have not yet disclosed whether Viard’s appointment is permanent.

Due to declining health Karl did not appear at the end of his Chanel show in Paris. The longtime head of Chanel’s fashion studio, Virginie Viard did the honors.
