That's specially true for the US fashion industry where marketing is a deeply respected science since several decades (even if abused by the mean mass market industry). But, what about European brands? Marketing should be a strong asset for fashion brands It's not.
Marketing is the unknown strategic discipline of fashion and luxury . Astonishingly neglected and deeply mistreated. In fashion, marketing directors are usually coming from press offices and PR and hired or promoted for their knowledge of the press and relations. The younger the better because there is a (not so) secret hope to kill two birds with one stone: digital! And press! And...well, yes, marketing.
Wrong. Fashion Marketing is a serious matter despite all the attempts to degrade it to pure fluff. Fashion Marketing is a strategic discipline. "Today there are multiple methods of distribution to reach the customer, which means the marketing aspects of the job have become incredibly important, incredibly scientific, incredibly necessary." Theory founder, Andrew Rosen. Marketing education at all levels is pivotal.
It's not a "nice-to-know", it's a must.

Lupita Nyong’o was all smiles seated next to Michael B.Jordan at Sunday night’s SAG Awards. The actors starred together in Black Panther, were nominated for best cast in a motion picture and best stunt ensemble in a motion picture, the latter of which the Marvel flick took home early in the night.
Lupita wore an elegant Vera Wang ensemble — an off-the-shoulder structured jacket and a sheer, blinged-out skirt completed by braids done by hairstylist Vernon François who used a mix of braiding techniques.
Chanel / Pharrell Williams collaboration Is ON!
It's official. Chanel is collaborating with Pharrell Williams for a capsule collection for Spring/Summer 2019, which is dropping on April 4 of next year.
Among many stars Pharrell Williams was in attendance in Bangkok for Chanel cruise show sporting his yellow logo hoodie making guests talk. The yellow hoodie is the first glimpse of his Spring/Summer 2019 capsule collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel.
It isn’t the first time Karl and Pharrell collaborate, they have done this in the past with Adidas sneakers.The rest of the new capsule will be revealed in the Chanel flagship store in Seoul on March 29, and on April 4 in the rest of the world.
