Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Serena Williams and Alessandro Michele will co-chair the Met Gala this year. We are eager to find out who was invited and how will they be dressed. Who will rock it and who will not. Here are how preparations are happening for some of the quests. of this year’s Met Gala.

How France Became the Fashion Capital of the World
.
Who can refuse the fact France is the fashion capital of the world?
Since 1800’s – the times when ordinary Englishman-in-Paris Charles Frederick Worth created his ‘Haute Couture’ concept and started dictating what was fashionable – it’s become obvious that any designer who wants to be successful has to live and work in Paris.
Indeed, the most influential designers like Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Cardin, Hubert de Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, who revolutionized the way people dressed and shaped the fashion industry of our days, majorly come from France. The situation hasn’t changed dramatically since last two centuries: Paris is still home to the headquarters of Rochas, Chanel, Balenciaga, Hermès and Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Chloe, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Céline and lots of other companies.
Besides everything listed above, there are lots of other reasons to consider France as the real fashion capital of the world:
Paris Fashion Week: Paris traditionally is the final city to host yearly fashion week marathon (after Milan, London, and New York). It’s Paris who dictates what the world will be wearing during the upcoming season.
Stylish People: Besides best world’s designers, France also is a motherland for some of the most stylish people on the planet like Jeanne Moreau, Brigitte Bardot, Juliette Binoche, Catherine Deneuve.
Golden Triangle: Paris is also famous for its shopping district – the area between the Avenue Marceau, Champs-Elysees, and Avenue Montaigne – stuffed with top world’s design houses.
Fashion Inventions: The most significant fashion inventions of all time also come from France. For example, bikini appeared thanks to French automobile engineer Louis Réard and fashion designer Jacques Heim, and the timeless little black dress was invented in Paris by Coco Chanel.
Fashion Trade Union: The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, created in 1973, is also situated in Paris – the undeniable fashion capital of the world.
First Fashion Publication: Yes, the first fashion magazine Le Mercure Galant was also represented in France in 1672. Soon, Louis XIV demanded that the magazine was published strictly once a month – thus the style and fashion tendencies were spread throughout the country and, consequently, the whole world.
How Was France Known?
However, it’s unfair to say that the French sense of style was first noticed in the 1850’s when the first clothing brand was established and the term ‘couturier’ was created.
So how was France known as the world’s fashion influencer?
The Early Manifestations
If history is any guide, it all kicked off as early as the 17th century thanks to Louis XIV, the Sun King, who always wanted to be at the center of all that was beautiful in the world. He started the trend for outrageous wigs of curled hair and was wearing fantastic luxury clothes, he ordered the glorious construction of his palace in Versailles and was first to establish the Etiquette rules.
He actually was fashion and a great role model not only for the French but also for people all over the world. Yes, the Versailles’ fashion became the European standard later on.
Thanks to the Sun King, Paris’ top position in the world fashion chart was not lost even during the hard times of the French revolution.
Fashion Boom at the Turn of the Centuries
The transition from the 19th to the 20th century was the period of the French fashion industry explosion. Women got rid of their old-fashioned corsets, heavy petticoats, and opted for light flowing bias-cut dresses. Numerous key fashion houses were founded during this time, and Coco Chanel started her own fashion game.
Parisian New Look
In 1947, when the war ended and the world was still recovering from its disastrous consequences, Paris surprised the planet with another fashion breakthrough – it was Christian Dior who represented his elegant and elaborate New Look: a full skirt, a cinched in waist, and a majestic bust. Should we mention that France became the world’s fashion center stage once again?
Fashion Goes to the Masses
Despite the popularity and world recognition of French fashion, it still was too exquisite so that it wasn’t accessible to many people. Yves Saint Laurent solved this problem in 1966 by creating his ‘ready to wear’ tuxedo suits for women, which were a great success.
What Is the Fashion Capital of the World?
Yes, Milan, London, and New York do have lots of influence on the modern world of fashion, but can they boast such incredible fashion history, personalities, and invention as Paris can? Almost all French brands are timeless – so isn’t it a sign of true pure style?
No doubt, despite a growing competition between well-established fashion centers and newbies like Berlin, Barcelona, or Singapore, the Fashion still is a deep-rooted aspect of France’s culture. So, it is deservedly the only fashion capital of the world.

It Turns Out She Fakes Her Voice Too
Elizabeth Holmes and The Lies
She made headlines for a number of outrageous things she did when she was considered a Silicon Valley sensation. Who remembers the long con pulled by Elizabeth Holmes? An entrepreneur who dropped out of Stanford at nineteen to found Theranos, a company that she claimed would reinvent the biomedical industry?
Disrupting the blood test: she claimed that her company was developing a method for running hundreds of lab tests from a single drop of blood using a machine called “The Edison” that used nanotechnology and robotics to analyze the sample. Holmes, 35, is the subject of the HBO documentary “The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley,” which chronicles the rise and fall of her company, Theranos.
Well, it turns out it isn’t only companies that she fakes. As Fox news reported some close to the disgraced former CEO have only recently revealed her stunts also included changing her voice to make it sound lower.
Google it, google videos with Elizabeth Holmes online, you will come across YouTube videos in which she is using her real voice before catching herlself and then lowering it. Watch this and tell us this isn’t fake low voice.
We are certainly not trying to make Elizabeth shining here, but The Laboratory of Instrumental Analysis of Communication at the Autonomous University of Barcelona did a study about tone of voice and perception. They had some interesting findings, and here are some of them:
A deep tone of voice implies maturity and generates trust in other people. It’s also a common tone in advertisements.
If someone’s tone of voice is extremely deep, it actually conveys a dark feeling.
A firm, confident tone of voice makes you think the person talking is distinguished and important.
Talking in a quiet tone of voice makes you think the person has major weaknesses or is awkward.
Perhaps changing her voice was part of Holme’s scam because she needed to sound mature and generate trust in other people. However, her voice sounds extremely deep and indeed it resulted in negative dark

PARIS - On the occasion of Yuri’s Night, Friday, 12 April 2019 at 19.00, the ‘Spacebrains’ foundation has directed Artcurial to sell a set of 16 lots related to the European space adventure, gathered by the European Space Agency (ESA), with most items having flown on space missions. The sale is organised at Artcurial auction house in Paris. The countdown has begun ! This is an unusual way to celebrate the 58th anniversary of Gagarin’s Vostok 1 mission, the first flight of a human in space, because this will be a new opportunity to acquire items with the heritage of international space missions. SPACEBRAINS is a new initiative supported by ESA, a non-profit association created in August 2018 with a new approach, aiming to be the beacon that monetises such wealth to offer a unique opportunity for daring ideas that link space to disruptive technologies.
For this first auction, 16 lots of a wide range of items are presented, each unique and accessible only in the context of this sale: be it a space stamp franked on board the Mir space station, flown space patches, one of Ariane 5’s booster bolts recovered from the Atlantic Ocean, the full scale model of Cupola (the European-built panorama window module installed on the International space station), one of the five flown OMEGA Speedmaster X33 Skywalker watches, or your own official manufacturer’s Exomars spacecraft model. The auction will be preceded by a public exhibition from 30 March to 9 April at Artcurial.

Jennifer Lopez's $1 Million Engagement Ring From Alex Rodriguez
She said Yes
The former New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez went all out with his ring choice for his now, fiance, Jennifer Lopez. Andrew Brown, President of WP Diamonds told E! News "I would imagine Jennifer Lopez's engagement ring to have a retail value approaching a million dollars. It looks to be an emerald cut around 10 carats, likely an extremely good stone—VS in color and clarity."
Ira Weissman, founder of The Diamond Pro, explained, "This approximately 20 carat emerald cut diamond is exquisitely cut and of superb quality. When you have an extremely rare and timelessly breathtaking stone such as this one, the goal of the ring should be to show off the rock naturally with as little embellishment as possible - the perfect compliment to the ageless enduring beauty of J.Lo. The ring is worth approximately $5 million dollars."
Girl is in good hands and we couldn’t be more happy!
A-Rod and J.Lo both shared pictures of her new jewelry that's sitting beautifully on her perfectly painted fingernails.

'Colette' with Keira Knightley
In the biopic 'Colette', the American director Wash Westmoreland returns to the life and rich career of one of the most important writers of the 20th century, embodied by Keira Knightley.
The film 'Colette' directed by Wash Westmoreland starring Keira Knightly hailed at the last festival Sundance. It traces the life of the writer Colette , returning on her marriage with the writer and music critic Henri Gauthier-Villars , said Willy. Her first literary successes as well as her emancipation of this manipulative husband, of which she wrote long novel. A biographical film in which Keira Knightley plays the leading role and fits perfectly in the shoes of the rebellious, free and liberated author who, tired of being the pen of her husband's books, decides one day to be the heroine of her own story and become one of the most famous novelists in the world. A compelling biopic!
Keanu Reeves Secretly Finances Children’s Hospitals
Reeves has admitted that he does not equate money with happiness.
Despite his beauty and his success in Hollywood on the big screen in films such as “The Matrix,” “Speed,” and “John Wick,” the 54-year-old Keanu Reeves’s life in one word can be described as tragic.
His father left his family when Keanu was only three. He changed four different schools in his teenage years while struggling with dyslexia. He graduated but lost his friend at the age of 23 to a drug overdose. Keanu’s first child was miscarried and the love of his life died in a car accident. When it seemed that things couldn’t get any worse, Keanu’s sister was diagnosed with leukemia.
His life’s tragedies gave him strength to give back and help others. His sister recovered and Keanu dedicated his life to helping others.
“Back in the late 90s and fresh out of college I got my first job as an assistant prop designer on the set of Chain Reaction (Keanu was a supporting actor with Morgan Freeman)”, one of the Reddit users shared.
“Every day for the last few weeks of filming, Keanu treated the stage hands and ‘grunt workers’ (including myself) by taking us out for free breakfast and lunch. He was genuinely a very nice guy to work with.
“Since then, I’ve worked on about 30 different sets and have never met an actor as generous and friendly as him. Most actors I’ve seen and worked with are total [expletive] who always think they are better than us. Keanu on the other hand, at the very least, was socially approachable and definitely kindhearted.”
This is only one story out of many and the actor never makes it a public relations stunt. He does not need to be recognized for his charity.
According to Snopes, in 2009 he told the Ladies’ Home Journal: “I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research. I don’t like to attach my name to it; I just let the foundation do what it does.”
And that it that.
Reeves also donated to SCORE (Spinal Cord Opportunities for Rehabilitation Endowment), a charity founded after a UCLA hockey player’s spinal cord was crushed in a post-season game.
Reeves gave portion of his proceeds from the Matrix trilogy back to the franchise to fund the costume and special effects teams. He negotiated a pay cut on the films “The Devil’s Advocate” and “The Replacements” so the projects could hire big name stars Al Pacino and Gene Hackman.
Reeves has admitted that he does not equate money with happiness.
“For me, I guess I don’t connect the enjoyment and the money,” he told the New York Post in 2000. “I work on a part and hopefully realize a part, and make good films. Some of the successes I’ve had I’m grateful for, because it creates other opportunities. [The way] I look at it is I get to act again.”
The Rare Bag
Women looking at their handbags as an asset and not just a frivolous accessory
Head of London department of Christie’s International Handbags and Accessories, Rachel Koffsky reports to Vogue Paris that the market has changed dramatically in the past 10 years. “Out of the recession, we’ve seen women looking at their handbags as an asset and not just a frivolous accessory,” she observes. “We’re seeing this female collector emerge. They’re starting to look at these pieces in the same way that perhaps men were traditionally looking at watch collections. There’s an awareness in terms of what a collectible handbag means and the value of these pieces on the primary and secondary market.”
The rarity is absolutely an important factor in bags, as is the condition (graded from one, for new, through to six, for damaged) according to Koffsky. Then there’s the model, age, materials, label, size (there’s been a significant trend for small bags at auction lately) and, more subjectively speaking, how keen a bidder you have in the room on the day. “For a collector who’s been looking for this [said] bag for 10 years, they’ll pay any amount for it,” says Koffsky. The room usually ranges from the first-time buyer, who will walk away wearing the piece she just bought, to the seasoned top buyer, who will treat it like art displayed in specially curated gallery-esque closets.
“There’s a life cycle to a bag when it comes to limited editions,” says Koffsky. Expect a huge premium on the market to begin with, then give it a year to 18 months and it may experience a dip before it comes back. It might be a celebrity or important influencer that creates the renewed interest. Season to season, the market is prone to fluctuate.
Are influencers evil for fashion brands? Are they the bad boys and girls that take advantage of fashion brands?
How can Fashion Brands collaborate effectively with them instead?
The 10 Golden Rules for Fashion Influencer Marketing
As a Brand you should start from A. Brand Positioning B. Brand Strategy C. Brand Action Plans in this order (but also be prepared to be flexible on your planning). The choice of the influencer happens at point C, so there’s a lot of Brand work before starting activities with influencers (and a lots afterwards regarding customer service)
The Brand comes first. Always pick up ambassadors who can help telling the story of the Brand. Therefore the brief must be very precise but the project should be developed by the influencer, with her/his own style.
The Brand shouldn’t delegate the success of his own storytelling to the influencers. Never expect that a single, one-shot collaboration will fix the problems the Brand hasn’t fixed itself before.
The influencer can get to the Brand an immediate ROI only in China (see Mr. Bag, for example)
Influencers in the Western countries are more useful as a magnifier for the product and the lifestyle of the Brand, much less as a vehicle for sold out pieces
Influencers may fake their followers numbers as well as fashion press may play with magazines printed copies, so do your diligence as a Brand and choose only the best of both
As a Brand you should have a varied, dynamic editorial plan in which several influencers give their contribution on top of other projects developed by the Brand (on products, inspiration, Brand values, corporate topics)
As a Brand be unique, original and find your own voice. Never follow the mass, never follow the influencer only because she has 1 million followers.
Less is more. Less collaborations but at a deeper lever and medium term are more effective than too many, one-shot and very superficial.
Ideas must come first. Ideas transformed into projects and stories are much more powerful than just a nice girl wearing the Brand products.
Influencers are a new media that should be integrated in a 360° marketing plan. Only in this case we can expect a successful creation of a strong Brand Equity in the medium term. There are no short cuts to business growth, neither through 10 million followers influencers.

Grace Kelly Cinematic Career
NOT EVEN ALFRED HITCHCOCK COULD LURE HER BACK TO HOLLYWOOD
In 1956 Grace Kelly , the muse of Alfred Hitchcock became the Princess of Monaco. That marked the end of her film career. Royal couple Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly made fairytale memories which still exist today. Kelly met Prince Rainier III of Monaco at a photo shoot in 1955 when she was leading the American delegation to the Cannes Film Festival, and the two instantly hit it off. After she returned to the States, the actress and the prince corresponded until later that year when he came to the U.S. on a diplomatic tour. After spending three days with Kelly and her family, Prince Rainier proposed, and Kelly accepted.
With only five years of cinematic experience she stole the hearts of many. In 1955 Grace Kelly achieved an Oscar for Best Actress, several Golden Globe nominations and the title of Hollywood icon.
Alfred Hitchcock never gave up on trying to get Kelly to star in another one of his films. Hitchcock allegedly planned to use 1962's Marnieas Kelly's big comeback to the silver screen, and the princess agreed to take the part. In March 1962, Monaco's palace spokesman announced that Princess Grace would play the role and then give up acting altogether.
Sacrebleu!
Beyonce turns down a role in Beauty and the Beast
Bill Condon was rounding out the cast for Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast and he tried but failed to cast Beyoncé whom he had worked with before. Beyonce played Deena Jones in his 2006 film Dreamgirls. To date, he's one of just two directors to put her in a musical—the first being Robert Townsend, who directed MTV's Carmen: A Hip Hopera.
So, the director lobbied to work with her again. "I even tried to get her into Beauty and the Beast, but it wasn't a big enough part," he said. " She would have been a good feather duster."
Another Royal Baby Is On The Way
Duchess of Sussex, is pregnant with her first child and will give birth in the British spring next year.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are expecting a child in the spring, Kensington Palace announced on Monday. According to the palace statement, Meghan and Prince Harry are "delighted" and "very pleased" about the news. Kensington Palace also announced that Meghan's mom Doria Ragland "is very happy about this lovely news, and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild."
The couple, officially the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, is currently on a 16-day tour of Australia and New Zealand, with their arriving in Sydney, holding hands, over the weekend. Meghan wore a white dress designed by Australian Karen Gee.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were given a cute present from their hosts - a fluffy kangaroo with a baby joey and fleece booties.
