8 Proven Ways to Prevent Wrinkles

Wrinkles are lines or creases in the skin that appear when the face is distorted by repetitive muscle contractions, particularly around the eyes and mouth.

1. Hydrate Skin

We all know that staying hydrated with water is essential, but what effect does this have on your skin? Water helps skin look plump, soft, and smooth, which are sure signs of healthy skin. When skin is hydrated correctly, it reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

2. Get Your Sleep

Did you know that Winkles are formed when your face is distorted? This occurs during the day when you make expressions and at night while you sleep (when your muscles essentially relax).

3. Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that fights against free radicals. Free radicals create wrinkles by destroying collagen and elastin- two proteins in the skin that keep it plump and firm. Vitamin C is found in oranges, grapefruit, broccoli, and bell peppers.

4. Retinol (Vitamin A)

Retinol is a form of Vitamin A. Some studies have shown that topically applying Retinol to the skin reduces fine lines and wrinkles, increase collagen production, and speeds up cell turnover.

5. Exfoliate

Dead skin cells collect on the surface of your skin which means they cannot function correctly until shed off. This makes the skin look dull and lifeless.

6. Sunscreen

There is no way to prevent wrinkles if you stay out in the sun without sunscreen. UV rays cause damage which leads to fine lines and wrinkles, so protect those peepers.

7. Treatment masks

A treatment mask is a sheet or gel that you apply to your skin that contains ingredients that are beneficial for the skin. Most contain antioxidants and exfoliating elements, which help improve the appearance of wrinkles, discoloration, and uneven texture.

8. Drinking Water.

You are made up mostly of water, so it only makes sense that the less hydrated the skin is, the more wrinkled it will appear. Drink eight glasses of water a day to keep your skin looking healthy and young.

Try incorporating some or all of these into your daily routine starting today, and you will be surprised by the results.
