A 10-year-old girl raised £ 50,000 for cancer patients by painting flowers. She is compared to Monet!
.
Daisies from Daisy. 10-year-old Daisy Watt, who is now nick named "little Monet", raised 50 thousand pounds for charity by painting flowers, reports Daily Mail.
Daisy started painting four years ago when her grandparents were diagnosed with cancer. The grandchild wanted to cheer them up and presented them with a picture of flowers in the garden.
Daisy’s mom invited her to draw another picture - for a charity auction to help organizations Firefly and Cancer Research, which deals with cancer patients.
Daisy agreed, and as a result, her canvas went under the hammer for 9.5 thousand pounds. The painting featured forget-me-nots, symbolizing the dead, and bright flowers that embodied those who survived.
The young artist continues to paint today and does a good deed. Buyers from all over the world admire her talent, and the girl herself, as her parents say, does not realize that she has a special skill, and just draws as she feels and sees.

The artist showed how to make a mask from Dior socks
.
All you need is scissors and socks. And maybe, just maybe you have the pair of Dior socks lying around at home?
Artist Daniel Arsham made a face mask from socks. All that was needed was scissors and a Dior Oblique sock with the logo of the fashion house. Cut a rectangle from the top of the sock, then fold it in half in length, and cut out squares on the sides, leaving half a centimeter on the top side. They will form adjacent semicircular handles that will hold the mask.
Arsham has collaborated with Dior more than once. Together with Kim Jones, the creative director of the menswear line, he launched the Nike Air Jordan sneakers with the Dior logo, the Dior Saddle bag carved in white stone, and also designed the display space.
Video tutorials with mask socks flooded YouTube and TikTok, with Nike socks being the most popular. While quarantine measures are gradually weakening, the mask remains mandatory for stay in public places. Take inspiration from Daniel's example and use your favorite socks to create a mask.

Mysterious story, famous photo and the most beautiful suicide of the 20th century
.
What was going on in Evelyn McHale’s head when, drinking coffee, she smiled at her groom and listened to his story about the day's plans? What was she thinking when she and Barry were deciding where and when to meet again and discussing the upcoming wedding? No one will ever know.
Maybe the conversations about the new status, joint plans horrified the 23-year-old girl and became the reason for what happened? It is not known if Evelyn wanted to marry Barry Rhodes. But an episode from her life is known and it very much characterizes her attitude to such events.
A year earlier, Evelyn became a guest at the wedding of the brother of the future groom. When the ceremony was over and Evelyn was in the room, she literally tore off her festive outfit and shouted, "I never want to see this again!"
She burned her fancy dress. It was her way of dumping unnecessary roles and responsibilities, saying goodbye to them. It was not the first time she used it - after Evelyn graduated from the service in the women's army corps, the former uniform also died in the fire.
By seven in the morning, Evelyn was supposed to be in New York. The future newlywed continued to chirp something happily to Barry, and before getting on the train, she hugged and gently kissed the groom. The girl seemed calm, happy. The train arrived in New York, Evelyn finally got to the Clinton hotel and literally scribbled a suicide note on the run. Everything had already been thought out, all decisions had been made, formalities remained and the very last step ...
What was in the note?
Evelyn wrote: “I do not want my remains to be seen by those close to me, please cremate. Funeral ceremonies and commemoration are also unnecessary. Barry and I were going to get married in June, but I don't think I can be a good life partner for him or anyone else. Barry will be better off without me. Let my father know - I look too much like my mother. "
Putting the note in a black leather wallet, Evelyn left the hotel and went to the famous, infamous Empire State Building, which has been popular with suicides since the Great Depression.
At 10 am on May 1, 1947, Evelyn began her last walk in her life. Climbing 86 floors and 344 meters, she went to the observation deck of the skyscraper. The deck of the 86th floor was especially fond of suicides - it was she who in an incredible way attracted those who despaired of finding joy and prospects in life. One woman survived a fall from the platform - after the jump, a strong gust of wind threw her back onto the deck. Evelyn was not the second survivor.
She went up to the platform, walked to the railing, trying not to notice the gusts of wind ... The wind disheveled her hair, but it didn't matter anymore. Evelyn took off her suicide note, then her coat, as if she were about to jump into the water. She neatly folded her things by the railing and without hesitation took a step into the void. About half an hour passed between the purchase of a ticket to the skyscraper and the death.
The body was discovered immediately - the police officer on duty John Morrissey heard the noise and hurried to its source. First, he noticed a snow-white scarf, a light bird falling from a skyscraper. And then he saw the girl. A crowd of onlookers had already gathered around and they were all shocked. Evelyn's body fell onto the roof of a parked Cadillac and landed in the most beautiful pose.
In a pile of metal, among the shards of glass on the roof of a black car, a young woman lay, as if deliberately taking a peaceful, relaxed pose. Her legs were beautifully folded, a gloved hand coquettishly froze on the necklace that adorned her neck, her face was serene, dreamy.
Although none of her organs were left unbroken in the body, outwardly Evelyn appearance was not damaged. The sight was so different from what suicides usually are that student and photographer Robert Wiles could not walk past and hurriedly took out a camera. Four minutes after the death of the model, her photo was taken and became one of the most famous photographs in the XX century, captioned "The most beautiful suicide."
A dozen days later the snapshot appeared on the pages of Life, and then the image of a beautiful suicide was successfully used and recreated by many artists, including Andy Warhol, who dedicated a painting "Suicide" and several works to Evelyn. Even today, in the 21st century, the image can be seen in advertising: many musicians have taken it to decorate album covers, it is used by famous perfumes - for example, Black Heart V 2 Map Of The Heart.
Relatives complied with Evelyn McHale's request - the body was cremated, the place of her burial does not exist in nature. Barry Rhodes's fiance never found a life partner and died single.
The image of the most beautiful suicide continues to march around the world, shocking and causing ambiguous feelings.

Selfie culture and its implications
.
The editors of the German edition of Leipziger Anzeiger, who so desperately opposed to the world's first photography technology invented by Louis Daguerre in the middle of the 19th century, called "daguerreotype", would have gone crazy to learn how many selfies people post on social networks every day.
Then, in the 1840s, the newspaper wrote in all seriousness (while Walter Benjamin made fun of them) that "man was created in the likeness of God, and the image of God cannot be captured by any human machine." But progress is relentless - and the "human machines" that conservatives feared so much have become an integral part of our lives.
Already in the twentieth century, the camera became an object of mass use. In 1948, the technology of instantaneous Polaroid photographs appeared for the first time, after a little more than half a century it turns out that people take more photos per minute than was taken in the entire 19th century.
A photograph of Robert Cornelius in 1839, one of the pioneers of photography who developed Daguerre's technology, is considered to be "the first selfie in history", although technically it is more correct to call it the first self-portrait.
But the picture taken in New York in December 1920 is closer to what we now call a selfie. Five men have gathered on the rooftop of Marceau's 5th Avenue studio and hugged each other to take a picture with outstretched arms. These are the photographers of the Byron Company, who opened one of the main photo studios in New York in Manhattan.
In 1954, Kodak released the Retinette, a camera with a built-in self-timer, advertising in a way that literally encouraged people to photograph themselves. Through their campaigns, Kodak has promoted the idea that photography is a way to preserve the moment. There was even the expression Kodak moment - a moment worth capturing.
"Since its inception, photography has fostered the ubiquity of a new kind of consciousness, thinking — treating the world as a collection of potential photographs," wrote Susan Sontag in her essay On Photography. Instagram now works in the same way, with the only difference that earlier they wanted to save moments as something rare and valuable, but now they are simply accumulated in endless feeds of stories that will disappear after a day.
The Oxford Dictionary defines a selfie as a photo of a person taken by the person himself on a smartphone or webcam and posted on social networks. In 2013, this phenomenon became the word of the year, ahead of "twerk" and "bitcoin". A year earlier, Japanese astronaut Aki Hoshide took a selfie in space, where the Earth was reflected in his mirrored helmet.
There are at least two other important examples that have influenced the public perception of selfie culture. In 2013, then US President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmitt took a selfie at Nelson Mandela's funeral. The photo quickly made its way around the media - and many did not like the fact that world leaders were having such inappropriate fun at the farewell ceremony.
The Guardian then published a column on why Obama's selfies are not a manifestation of disrespect for Mandela. "I'm not sure if Mandela would have taken a selfie at Obama's funeral if they had swapped places, but I'm pretty sure he would have seen the fun of the situation," writes author John Kreis. Ethics aside, this selfie is almost the first example outside of a protocol shot of politicians (although the photo taken by the Danish Prime Minister was never published).
The joint photo of the actors at the 2014 Oscars is also historic. Ellen DeGeneres gathered around her Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Kevin Spacey and other stars, and the photo itself was taken by Bradley Cooper. The Hollywood selfie literally broke Twitter - the picture was retweeted more than 2 million times even before the ceremony ended.
Why are we so obsessed with selfies and have built our own image on Instagram into a cult? Marshall McLuhan seems to have an explanation. When he analyzed the myth of Narcissus in Understanding Media, he said that the protagonist was numb, mesmerized by his own expansion outward. It was not that he fell in love with his reflection, he could not take what he saw for himself - and it captured his consciousness. The endless number of filters and masks on Instagram contributes to a person's dependence on creating more and more new versions of himself.
Selfies are a product of the spectacle society. As Nicholas Mirzoev writes in his book How to Look at the World, each selfie is a performance where we play the person we would like to appear. This is an attempt to appear to the world as we see ourselves, and not as who we are seen from the outside.
Psychologists associate selfie obsession with the development of body dysmorphic disorder, a psychological disorder in which people are overly concerned with their own bodies and focus on their flaws or minor defects. In 2018, experts from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery conducted a survey, the results of which showed that unsuccessful selfies are the main reason for cosmetic surgery. The desire for obsessive perfectionism is the reason for the painful attitude towards yourself and your life. It seems to us that someone has something better, but in reality we are simply equal to a simulacrum of reality.
Returning to the idea of Susan Sontag, selfies are the same social ritual, without which virtual (and as a result - real) life is unthinkable. The fanatical desire to capture oneself can be compared to the need to assert oneself, to declare one's existence. In this case, selfies are also a cure for anxiety.
Old 36- or 24-frame film cameras ensured the selectivity of what was happening, it was impossible to document everything that happens to you, the choice was made in favor of something more or less outstanding that would matter after a while. Instagram has destroyed this selectivity. Remember you only exist on Instagram for 24 hours, and if after this time you don't show signs of life - you don't post a selfie, don't take pictures of your beloved cat, don't show your breakfast - then you practically disappear into oblivion. It is the fragility of digital existence that makes us take selfies over and over again. And we will continue to do so.

Diane Keaton To The Rescue

Why not give our planet a chance to recover. It already seeing some improvements across the world, but why not help out some more by doing a simple task and that is picking up your garbage at the beach. Actress Diane Keaton isn’t wasting her pandemic time at home. She is out there at Venice Beach picking up your trash. Must we note, even the trash bag is fashionable. But really people, this is sad.
If you are that person who left the Moonpie wrapper and a wine bottle that Diane picked up after you, be ashamed of yourself and perhaps learn a lesson. One extra trash bag for your trip to the beach won’t take much space. Bring it and most importantly, use it when you’re done chilling at the beach.

Kirsten Stewart as Princess Diana in new drama, Spencer
.
Pablo Larrain, Chilean filmmaker is set to direct Spencer, drama that takes place at Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, three days before Diana was put in line to be a queen. The royal treatment goes to actress Kirsten Stewart who was cast to play Princess Diana. When it comes to casting I think it’s safe to say that physical characteristics were matched perfectly, but can Kirsten deliver gentle, vulnerable, character of Lady Diana we will just have to wait and see.
"We all grew up, at least I did in my generation, reading and understanding what a fairy tale is," Larraín — also a producer on the film alongside his Fabula company partner Juan de Dios, Jonas Dornbach, Janine Jackowski and Paul Webster — told Deadline. "Usually, the prince comes and finds the princess, invites her to become his wife and eventually she becomes queen. That is the fairy tale. When someone decides not to be the queen, and says, I’d rather go and be myself, it’s a big big decision, a fairy tale upside down. I’ve always been very surprised by that and thought it must have been very hard to do. That is the heart of the movie.... We want to make a movie that goes wide, connects with a worldwide audience that is interested in such a fascinating life."
Loving 2016 American Drama We Must Revisit
.
2016 American biographical romantic drama Loving tells a story of Richard and Mildred Loving, their interracial marriage which sparks a case that leads to the Supreme Court.
Richard Loving played by Joel Edgerton, a reserved mechanic and construction worker in 1958 Virginia marries his pregnant girlfriend Mildred, played by Ruth Negga. The couple drives to Washington, D.C. to make their union official and plan to settle near Mildred’s family home where Richard bought an acre of land on which he plans to build a house.
Everything changes in a moment when officers brake into the home of Richard and Mildred accusing them of violation of anti-miscegenation law which states that mixed race couple is punishable by jail time. With the help of the local attorney Richard and Mildren leave the state of Virginia and shall not return for 25 years. As time went by with Richard and Mildren living away from their home, their families, the world changes with the rise of civil rights movements and Loving’s case eliminates the racist laws.
2016 Loving drama is urgent and current to today’s drama. A story well-told , a story of two people who change the country by falling in love.

Stop smart working, start working well in fashion and luxury.
It seems that a new trend is taking place in these days: fashion and luxury companies are becoming big believers in smart working.
They call it smart work but it is just "work from home" and it is an obsolescent concept and dangerous if used as a solution for cutting fixed costs.
The risk of this misleading idea of smart working is that an employee is requested to work exactly in the same way as in the office, from home.
Trouble is that not everybody has a house with a space that can be dedicated to a desk, an office chair (as requested), proper lighting and silence.
Not everybody has a nice spot to be adorned as a background nor has proper air conditioning.
Facebook has already anticipated that its employees are free to work from home but if they choose to move from the area of the HQ they might face pay cuts.
In Switzerland a court ruled for the employer to give a fixed contribution to the employee who has to set up an office space at her house.
Who pays the bills? A good wi-fi (powerful enough for a family with different needs), office furnitures, proper lights, air conditioning and heating.
Who educates managers to enhance a different mindset to favor smart work instead of just mere execution of tasks?

TV anchor Anderson Cooper welcomed son Wyatt, born via surrogate. Cooper shared an adorable photograph quoting the following: “I want to share with you some joyful news. On Monday, I became a father. This is Wyatt Cooper. He is three days old. He is named after my father, who died when I was ten. I hope I can be as good a dad as he was. My son's middle name is Morgan. It's a family name on my mom's side. I know my mom and dad liked the name morgan because I recently found a list they made 52 years ago when they were trying to think of names for me. Wyatt Morgan Cooper. My son. He was 7.2 lbs at birth, and he is sweet, and soft, and healthy and I am beyond happy.
As a gay kid, I never thought it would be possible to have a child, and I’m grateful for all those who have paved the way, and for the doctors and nurses and everyone involved in my son's birth.
Most of all, I am grateful to a remarkable surrogate who carried Wyatt, and watched over him lovingly, and tenderly, and gave birth to him. It is an extraordinary blessing - what she, and all surrogates give to families who cant have children. My surrogate has a beautiful family of her own, a wonderfully supportive husband, and kids, and I am incredibly thankful for all the support they have given Wyatt and me. My family is blessed to have this family in our lives
I do wish my mom and dad and my brother, Carter, were alive to meet Wyatt, but I like to believe they can see him. I imagine them all together, arms around each other, smiling and laughing, happy to know that their love is alive in me and in Wyatt, and that our family continues.”

Ultimately, Jeff Bezos’ Venice wedding stands as a symbol of the tension between wealth, public sentiment, and societal responsibility. It simultaneously demonstrates the economic impact of celebrity events while spotlighting growing inequality and the questions surrounding true intentions behind such grand spectacles. Hope Jeff got the pre-nup in place.

Brad Pitt took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for “Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood”. Aniston won for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actress in a Drama Series for “The Morning Show.”
The two were photographed sharing a moment backstage after their win at the SAG Awards 2020.

You may have heard Reese reached out for “more water” at the Golden Globes when her table ran out of bubbly. Well, to further tie the friendship knot that eloped after the incident, Bey and Jay sent Reese a case of Armand De Brignac “Ace of Spades” champagne the next day. The note stated “More Water”.

In Honor Of Faye Dunaway's 79th Birthday
Faye’s Fun Facts and collection of looks to honor 79th Birthday, today.
If we were to ask everyone who the best living actress in Hollywood is, there will be a few to name and one woman who would undoubtedly receive a lot of votes would be Faye Dunaway.
Dorothy Faye Dunaway has won an Academy Award, three Golden Globes, a BAFTA, and an Emmy, and was the first recipient of a Leopard Club Award that honors film professionals whose work has left a mark on the collective imagination. Above all, she is a true style icon and today, as we celebrate Faye’s birthday.
The role of Bonnie Parker that made’s Faye career was offered to Cher, Ann-Margret, Tuesday Weld, and Sue Lyon first.
Contrary to other women who starred with Warren Beatty, Dunway chose to keep things platonic.
Dunaway has been married twice, both times for less than six years. Her first husband was American musician Peter Wolf. They were married from 1974 until 1979. Her second husband was British photographer Terry O’Neill, the father of her only child. They were married from 1983 until 1987.
As of 2019, Dunaway has been nominated for three Oscars. They were, in chronological order, for the films Bonnie and Clyde, Chinatown, and Network. She only won once, the Best Actress statue for Network.
In 1975, Dunaway appeared opposite Robert Redford in Three Days of the Condor. American political thriller film directed by Sydney Pollack. The story features Dunaway’s character being held hostage by Redford’s character, and she is meant to be in fear of being violated or killed. This was particularly challenging for the actress as she joked that the idea of being kidnapped by someone like Redford was “anything but frightening.”
Faye Dunaway attended and graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in theater. After finishing at the University of Florida, she transferred to Boston University’s School of Fine and Applied Arts. She finished her education in 1962.
Faye Dunaway was first married to Peter Wolf in 1974. However, the couple later divorced in 1979. She married again in 1983 to Terry O’Neill. Together, this couple had a son, Liam. However, this couple too divorced in 1987. As of 2017, she has not remarried.

Is History Repeating Itself?
While this may be the hottest thing Prince Harry did for Meghan Markle according to Vogue, it could also be something that could predict regrets in the future. After all Edward VIII, Harry’s great, great, great grandfather abdicated the throne in order to marry his lover, Wallis Simpson, thereafter taking the title Duke of Windsor. Year later Edward VIII attempted to return. Did he feel out of place?
Today, with Harry and Meghan announcing their departure from full time royal responsibilities we ask is history repeating itself? Perhaps or Harry, who lost the loved one in the past is avoiding the inevitable.
To handle the constrainment is not an easy ordeal to face for a 38 year old full time working woman, not to mention handling the “exotic DNA” remarks made toward Markle because of her race.
It was obvious Meghan was struggling. In her last interview Markle addressed the struggles and the toxic effect on the American former actress and new mom.
Did this serve as a warning signal to Harry? It sure did.
“My deepest fear is history repeating itself. I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditized to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother, and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.”
And while the Queen maybe ok with the recent announcement, is she really ok losing the favorite royal?Probably not. But it may just be the best way out of the situation. Meghan is partly black. The media and the ignorant sections of British society could not handle this. Meghan and Harry rightly have had enough. Best way to solve this riddle is to leave which is what they are doing. Good for them.
